Stop motion movie

I learned that making a stop motion video or clip is harder than it is most of the times I had to restart part of the movie because it wasn't really good.
The most challenging part was when we had to make sure that nothing in the background was in the movie. We solved it by just covering the background with a giant green paper.
Next time I should make our story a bit simpler to make rather than just making the story complicated.

Attributes Homework

I was appreciative when I was playing football.I was appreciative there because I tell the right thing to do like corners and a foul.I have to do this because my team don't follow the rules correctly and just want to win.

I was committed when I was doing a Imovie for my poem but I felt I was gonna give up but no.I also found a way by going to that image zoom in to get a full screen picture and then take a photo and go to Imovie and search of that photo and put it there.

I was creative when I was taking photos at home or at school. When I was taking photos I use the techniques like the rule of thirds and get close. Then I go to be Funky and go creative and put other color on it and publish it in drive or blog with a name that fits that picture.

Balloon Racers

We made paper cars with wheels and axels. They were supposed to move because of the force of air being released from the ballon. The air came out too slowly. We learned that not all experiments are successful and scientist must be very patient.

Compound Pulley

We were very lucky to experiment with a compound pulley system. We learned that one pulley is not very useful. With more than one, small people can be as strong as superheroes!

Friction Experiments

We used the scientific method to test the amount of friction created by different surfaces. We found out that the carpet has more friction than the tiles.

Service Learning

We were presented with this photo from the World Food Program for our donation. The money will go to Aleng primary school, Chrey Bak Commune, Rolear Phaer District in Kampon Chhnang. The donation will be used to purchase fresh vegetables to complement the meal, as well as soap for the children.

Our Minecraft helped us with our thinking skills, because  we got the most gold. And we never die.One of the problem is that we were going to sell the bread to Fast Food Fred but we accidently eat the bread. Our team almost die because we just jump off a high place. What was helpful was that we didn't get angry to each other. What was not helpful was that Maya just a swimming pool and we can't climb the ladder.
Our Minecraft helped us with our thinking skills, because it helps us know how we could make bread, carrot and potato. We could also have a opportunity to build a pool,so we could take water from it to put it in our garden. We started off from five gold coins, and we learned how to survive with it  and how we could help others and make decisions.Once we got 10 fertilizers for one gold coin, and that was was a opportunity for many farms, because they could put it in their farm to make the crops grow.We learned that if we have a mix of crops we could stay healthy, and we could sell some crops to Fast Food Fred get some money.

Minecraft farming

I learn that there was opportunity if you make a good choice like one  thing  like planting all kind of vegetable.there are challenges if we only plant one vegetable. Also you have to talk to your team to get opportunity and you might get challenges if  you don't talk . There are many challenges and opportunity in Minecraft.

MINECRAFT FARM

Our Minecraft Farm helped us with our thinking skills. When we did Minecraft Farm l learned that sometimes we have to make really hard decisions. I made a hard decision too l had to either feed my partner or l had to sell the food and get money l decided to feed my partner so that they can help me grow more food. In doing this we had some challenges and opportunities. In the real world some of this might be happening.

Minecraft Farm

Our Minecraft Farm helped us with our thinking skills. Sometimes we asked"Should we sell this bread or keep it?"Like real farms we had to make decisions for example"Should we use this wheat to buy more fertilizers?"We also had challenges. One of there were seeds for 10 gold coins and when there was a opportunity they have 3 gold coins for 10 seeds.

Minecraft farming

Our Minecraft farm helped us with our thinking skills.Sometimes there are problems they sometimes give us bonuses but it might do something bad to you.just like farmers in real life.Example like you have bread and you give somebody the bread and collected the money but it may affect your hunger.
Mr. Matt sometimes give us opportunity which give us money. So that's why many people start working harder. We are lucky to have a bucket in the beginning this was an opportunity.Because if you always die on the ladder you can make a pool at the end of the ladder.
                                                          Our minecarft reflection

Our Minecraft farm helped us with our thinking skills because sometimes we have to make hard decisions just like farmers in real life. we had a lot of problems like sometimes when we want to sell bread and other foods we accidentally eat it instead  of selling  it which makes it harder  because we just wasted 3 wheat just for 1 bread. This farming activity was making us think a lot for the decision.

Minecraft Farming Reflection

MINECRAFT

Our Minecraft farm helped us with our thinking skills because
because we had to make hard decisions. For example we had to decide if we use our crops to eat food or to sell for money. We also had opportunity's. We could buy fertilizer  with only a couple of coins. A challenge would be if you grow only wheat, people  would have enough of bread. It is like real farms. In real life this is what happens. It helps us connect with what happens in real life.

Minecraft Edu

Minecraft Edu
My reflection on minecraft is that was a good experience.

My group only had two people and the other groups had three of four. The other groups could make more plants like carrots , potatoes and wheat.

The other groups got more gold and more people because before we made our groups everybody is a three or a four but I had just a two and people grow a lot so they can pay for food and get more gold coins and we got a small farm  and got less gold coins.

I am happy that mine craft has "keep inventory" because that will help.If anyone dies hry will not loose their stuff and continue their farming journey.

I tried to help my partner but she called Mr. Matt instead,I wish I could have shown Natasha more things on Minecraft

Displaying 2015-04-01_13.22.43.pngIf i get to do this again I will try some more ideas.

Our Minecraft Reflection

Our Minecraft farm helped us with our thinking skills for example like if we have to get gold coins or we have to make bread to feed our other players which one should we choose?.Also we have challenges or opportunities that is the as in a real farm like discount for a fertilizer. Finally we learned not to always plant one kind of plant or else you might not be lucky like potato for 10 coins but you only plant carrot.

Our Minecraft Reflection

Our Minecraft farm help us with our learning Skills because it's hard to decide should we do this or not. There were opportunities Some of them are we had alot of money. Also there is problems some of them are really pour and break the wheat that did't grow properly.   - Serey

Minecraft Treehouse Market Farming

Our Minecraft Farm helped us with our thinking skills. We had to make decisions about if we needed to eat or should we sell food. These decisions are connected to real farms because real people have to make decisions like we made in minecraft. Real people make decisions like

Minecraft Farming Reflection

Our Minecraft farming helped us think because we had to make decisions like: should I spend my money on the farm or on health?  We also had opportunities like : Now fertilizer is 10 times cheaper! And it is fun and it is good to learn and have fun.

Banana Bread Success!

We have been learning about food security in connection with our current unit of inquiry. We decided to take action by selling banana bread and donating the money to the World Food Programme.

We bought all the ingredients from a local market and used them to make 12 loaves. We sold one piece for $1. Our profit was $90. This money will go the WPF's School Meal Programme.

"Mr. Ammar from the WPF came to talk to us. I learned that there is enough food in the world to feed everyone but not everyone has access to it," reflected Kudzaishe.

BKK Market Field Trip

Questions About Opportunities for Vendors
Serey - I asked how much her profit was and she said $50 a day.
Monica - I asked what the most popular product was and she said bananas.
Micah - I asked if she imported and she said from China and Vietnam.
Aadya - I asked how many customers she had in a day and she said 100 on Sundays.

Questions About Challenges for the Vendors
Kanika - I asked what problems she had selling and she said some people try to cheat her and confuse her and say they already gave her the money.

What was New for Us
Pheakdey - It was a surprise that I saw real chickens and real fishes.
Beaunita- I learned something new and that is people eat pig noses.
Athiphou - I was surprised we got a lot of things for just $3.
Sophia - Sometime we did not have enough money so we had to choose another fruit.

This is what we got for $3.

Blue Pumpkin Field Trip

We learned about food production at the Blue Pumpkin. They make ice cream, cakes, bread, croissants and more. They make 20 different kinds of cakes, up to 50 of each every day. We multiplied and figured out that is 1,000 little cakes per day!

3rd World Farmer

We played an online simulation game called 3rd World Farmer. We learned about the hard choices people have to make when they do not have much money. We also learned that the more money you have, the easier it is to get even more.

Here are the challenges and opportunities that we thought of.

Bread Production

This week we simulated a bread production system. We worked at either the farm, mill, factory or shop. We sold our product and paid our costs. Anything left over was used to by the bread.

"We can't afford to buy more flour until we get paid for the bread," said Athiphou."
"Do I have to buy the next delivery of bread? We already have too much," said Oscar.

We learned that you need less people at the shop then at the farm. When there was no wheat, the rest of us could not work or make money.

Money From Around the World

We are very lucky to be from so many places. We were able to examine money from over 10 countries.

WE THINK
  • Many bills from around the world have important people and buildings on them.
  • Security features make it hard to copy the money.
  • Bills from Australia and Malaysia might be made of plastic.

WE WONDER
  • Do all countries use security features on their money?
  • What materials are the bills made of?
  • Why does money from 1 country come in different sizes and colors?
  • How do they make the watermark?

Hunger Lunch

We are lucky enough to eat every day so we had a hunger lunch to help us think about what it might mean to be in a group of people who don’t get enough nutritious food.
Through random selection we were put in the following groups to represent three different income groups of the world’s population.
  • High Income – 10 students ate pizza, crisps, chocolates and drank juice.
  • Middle Income – 30 students had chicken, vegetables, rice and bananas and had water from their own bottles.
  • Low Income – More than 70 students had plain rice and had to travel for their water.
When asked if how the food was distributed was fair, Athiphou (high income group) responded, "No, because first we tried to share food then people started stealing food and some people didn't get any."

New Unit of Inquiry

HOW WE ORGANIZE OURSELVES
Food as a Resource

CENTRAL IDEA: Knowing how food resources are distributed enables us to understand a community's challenges and opportunities.

Minecraft at School

Dear Ms. Paula,
We think we should use Minecraft at school.
From,
Ms. Teresa's Class
Students were asked why Minecraft was a good learning tool for schools. Here is a word cloud based on their responses.

Minecraft - Angkor Wat Reflection

Sokvattanak-I learned that we need to plan together because we could make lots of mistakes.
Jan-You have to plan before you build so you do not have to destroy and start again.
Micah-I learned that you have to talk a lot to each other because we need to make a plan.
Monica-I learned that before doing anything we need to talk to each other.
Zoe-I think working in a team for Minecraft is good, because then it might take to long for like if one person is working on one thing it will take to long.
Kanika-I learned that if we work as a team we could get our work done faster because if we don’t concentrate we cannot finish our job.
Beaunita-I learned about working as a team is hard because sometimes people don’t listen
Pheakdey-I learned that being a team is hard because we were arguing about some stuff.
Monica-I learnt that you need to explain what your friend did wrong before you destroy their work.
Oscar We learned communicating by the chat box was helpful.
Sophia - We communicating well because we can click T and instead of talking loudly we can write.
Natasha- We should have made a plan earlier and bring it with us.
Micah-I learned that we need to talk to each other because we had to go back and destroy some things.
Serey - I learned that not to chase chickens and throw potions everywhere and i also learned that putting costumes or armour is not important because this lesson is building Angkor Wat in Minecraft.
Juliana - I was principled because I work as team.
Beaulinda - I learn that we can not chase chickens then i am wasting time and don't steal other   people's stuff.
Monica - I learnt that I need to focus on my job, because if you play you are wasting time.
Kudzaishe -We where principled because we did not get distracted by the chickens and other things.
Sovanreach - We were not so principaled because some time we say some thing that we are not aloud to say.

Subtraction Word Problems

Kanika, Sok Vattanak, and Beaulinda made a song to help us remember subtraction phrases.
- Monica

These 3 were brave enough to sing all about subtraction. They got the idea from listening to a rap song about geometry.

National Museum of Cambodia

Today we visited the National Museum of Cambodia. We saw many statues of Hindu gods. We learned that before Buddhism, Hinduism was popular in Cambodia.  We are now interested in learning Hindu stories.

Our guide said many of the items in the museum came from ancient temples. Athiphou asked,  “Isn’t it wrong to take things from the temples?” Our guide explained that museums help keep important artifacts safe.
