Today we started a new UOI about sharing the planet. We read a book called the lorax. It was about a guy who was named the oncler and did not really help the invierment. The oncler was not very smart by using all the truffla trees because he did not save any. And if he did not save any then he'll not have any more to make thneeds. The oncler demanded to have the truffla trees cut down because he could then make more money. You need the thneeds because their clothes but you also want one because maybe you like them.

A fantastic book and a fantastic lesson. We all have our own "truffula trees" that we see every day but only pay attention to when they are almost gone. For me, where I live in Canada they include groundhogs and leopard frogs - which I used to see daily but now am surprised when I'm lucky enough to see one. I'm curious, if people were to think about it, what their own "truffulas" would be.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Ranger Rob! You have inspired us to find out what natural resource in our home countries is disappearing like the truffula tree.
